Mirari leads the creative direction of the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, delivering an integrated vision that spans architecture and public experience. This ambitious mandate harnesses the full creative force of the studio — blending experiential design, scenography, and technological innovation.
Conceived as a fragment of river frozen in ice, the pavilion draws inspiration from the spring phenomenon of ice jams to evoke a landscape in transformation — a Canada in motion, shaped by natural forces. Designed to captivate the nearly two million expected visitors, the pavilion offers an immersive journey powered by augmented reality — a window into the invisible, inviting guests to discover Canada from a new perspective, following the flow of water. Within a sculptural environment of towering ice monoliths, visitors are immersed in a warm and welcoming society where past and present converge, and where shifting scales reveal a Canada both unexpected and deeply resonant.
Aligned with Expo 2025’s overarching theme, Designing Future Society for Our Lives, and its subtheme Empowering Lives, Canada’s participation is guided by the concept of Regeneration. This theme reflects the country’s commitment to building a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future — one shaped by openness, creativity, and global collaboration.
To bring this vision to life, Mirari assembled an exceptional creative team: the firms Rayside Labossière and Guillaume Pelletier for the architecture, and Robert Lepage, Steve Blanchet, and Soleil Launière for the immersive experience design.
